| How I Can Help Careful planning before and after divorce can help you not only keep
your head above water long after your marriage has ended, but also move you toward your
long-term financial goals. My job is more than a numbers game: it is to give you the
unfair advantage.
As a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA), I
can help you:
- Achieve a financially fair divorce settlement by analyzing
the proposals of you and your spouse. When I review a proposed settlement, I ask: Is it
fair? Is it equitable? An even split of property may not have even results. I will assess
different components of your divorce settlement by looking at:
- personal vs. marital property
- how to value and divide real estate
- alimony and child support
- tax issues.
- By working closely with your attorney, accountant and all
the professionals involved in the process.
- If necessary, I also provide expert testimony in court. I
work closely with your attorney, accountant, and all of the professionals involved in the
process.
The designation of Certified Divorce Financial
Analysts is awarded by The Institute
for Divorce Financial Analysts (IDFA) to individuals who successfully
complete the training and test requirements set by IDFA. IDFA is the premier national
organization dedicated to the certification, education and promotion of the use of
financial professionals in the divorce arena.
The financial issues inherent to every divorce case are
often times the ones that are the most overlooked. However, once a divorce settlement has
been signed, its too late to change it.
Who should keep the house? How much will it cost to live
post divorce? How much alimony is there going to be and for how long? Will the custody
arrangement affect child support? How can the retirement accounts be split and the money
accessed? How can a business be offset? Should a business be valued? What is the value of
health care benefits? Most important of all, will the clients be able to financially
survive (and thrive) with the settlement post divorce?
Certified Divorce Financial Analysts are trained to
answer these questions and more for men and women in the process of divorce and to provide
litigation support for their attorneys, which help them prove and often settle their case. |
